Pregnancy Pact

So, I had heard this on Friday, but didn't really read into it any, this so called Pregnancy Pact. At a high school in Gloucester, Massachusetts, there are 17 girls expecting! You or your teen girl may go to a high school where there are pregnant girls, maybe more than 17, but was there a pact between those girls? Most would say no.
A pact. To get pregnant. What would make a teen girl do this? Lack of love? And that lack of love with a lacking home life... Low self esteem? There is a combination of so many things. It's sad really. Some girls get pregnant because they have lack of love from a father figure in their home. When a boyfriend shows them "love" they cling to that person and feed off that love. This comes all down to the breakdown of the family and the family homes in America today.
People are getting divorces left and right. And nowadays, people aren't even getting married. They are just living together! That way, when there is some disagreement, all they have to do is leave, leaving children without a 2-parents home and the stability of a 2-parent home. It's sad that people don't want to get married just because they think there is the possibility of divorce from the person they are with. If people would date longer and get to know the other person before jumping directly into bed with them, then maybe marriages would last. Ok, enough on that rant.
Back to the subject of teen pregnancies. The school in Massachusetts wants to give out contraceptives without parental permission. HELLO! If these girls are wanting to get pregnant, do they really think the girls are going to take birth control??
Some of those girls think that their parents are going to help them. While some may, all parents don't have the same outlook on their teen daughters getting pregnant. Even as a 20-something woman living at home, my parents who nut up on me. I made this statement one time to my parents, just kidding around: " A lot of the girls I went to school with are having babies. Maybe I should have one." My dad looked at me with all seriousness and said "Maybe you should move out too."
I know where my parents stand on having children out of wedlock, hince the reason I don't do it. Another reason I don't have a child? Hmm... I can't afford it!! These girls that are seemingly not even thinking of the financial consequences of having a child. Diapers. Formula. Food. Toys. Clothes. And those things just get more expensive as the child grows.
Time. That's another reason for my not wanting a child right now. I'll admit, I'm selfish about my time right now. I like being able to have the time to go out with friends and throw get togethers and whatnot. When you have a child, you have to either not go out or find a babysitter.
Marriage. Another reason. I'm not married. I wouldn't want to do it on my own. I have a friend who is a single mother and she is a great mother to her daughter. But at the same time, I know she'd like to have the stability of a 2-parent home.
So... Parents, keep tabs on your children. Know who their friends are. Know what kind of psycho pacts they are thinking of making. Love them. Hug them. Especially you dads. LOVE YOUR KIDS!

wow 17?? well i know lots of people that I went through school with, that have kids now...even friends from my old church have ended up pregnant out of wedlock...huge shock at the time. But at the end of the day all you can do is love them and be there. I certainly don't want a baby until I'm married. I have so many things I want to do first.
